Épica Foundation presents an interactive trial at Innovationslabor Zukunft
On May 28 and 29, the Épica Foundation took part in the Innovationslabor Zukunft festival in Stuttgart, organized by Schauspiel Stuttgart. As part of the event, we showcased our work and offered an innovative participatory experience: an interactive simulated trial powered by artificial intelligence.
During the activity, 40 participants assumed the role of jury members in a fictional case. Throughout the session, they were presented with a sequence of multimedia evidence — including testimonies, leaked documents, videos, and immersive environments — designed to challenge their initial perceptions and gradually shift their judgments. What began as a seemingly clear-cut case evolved into a complex debate on responsibility, truth, and manipulation.
The trial was orchestrated using Kalliópê 2, which enabled dynamic interaction, personalized content delivery, and a narrative that branched in real time. The experience concluded with an open discussion about the role of artificial intelligence in shaping public opinion, the impact of disinformation, and the ethical dilemmas of the digital age.
We thank Schauspiel Stuttgart for hosting us, and all participants for engaging with curiosity, empathy, and critical thinking.
