Fran Iglesias in the Gate Festival in Stuttgart
Fran Iglesias, manager of Fundación Épica La Fura dels Baus, participated in theGATE 2026, an international festival held in Stuttgart from 18 to 22 May 2026, dedicated to exploring the intersections between art, science, technology and society. The event, promoted by the High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS) and the Media Solution Center (MSC), brings together leading voices from research, industry and the creative sector to open up new spaces for dialogue and collaboration.
In this context, Fran Iglesias took part in two panels of the eCulture Convention, a professional space focused on debating the challenges and opportunities emerging from the convergence of culture, technology, artificial intelligence and innovation.
Fran Iglesias participated in two sessions of the programme. The first was the Messy Studio “Threads & Rifts – Making Sense of Computational Culture”, moderated by Peter Friess, from European Commission DG Connect, with contributions from Alistair Hudson, from ZKM; Veronika Liebl, from Ars Electronica; Michael Resch, from HLRS; Fco. Javier Iglesias, from Fundación Épica La Fura dels Baus; and Alexander Mankowsky.
The second panel, “Performance Art & Technology & Research & Society”, focused on the connections between performance art, technological research and society. The conversation featured Sven Meyer, from State Theatre Stuttgart; Mauricio Valdés San Emeterio, from PiNA / HEKA Lab; Alessandro Londei, from Sony CSL Rome; and Fco. Javier Iglesias Garcia, representing Fundación Épica.
