Innovation Week at the UAB
On October 22, the Épica Foundation team took part in Innovation Week at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), during the session titled “Artificial Intelligence, Art and Innovation”, organized by the UAB-Cruïlla Chair.
During the event, we had the opportunity to enjoy four performative prototypes that combined live performances, music, and artificial intelligence. Each presentation was followed by a performaforum — a discussion space where the creative teams shared their working processes and the audience could ask questions and share reflections.
Our manager, Fran Iglesias, participated in the performaforum of the performance Candela, by Maria Badji, an experimental flamenco dancer and multimedia and arts engineer. The piece explored the intersection of flamenco, improvisation, and artificial intelligence, offering an innovative perspective on the dialogue between art and contemporary technology.
In addition, throughout the day, the Civic Square on campus hosted eight technological demonstrations, ranging from automatic comic generation from images to a robotic cat designed for security and live event management.
Attendees also had the chance to take a short ride in the autonomous vehicle developed by the Computer Vision Center, an experience that brought applied research closer to the public in a tangible and engaging way.
