BADAMONIA 2

General description of the project

BADAMON.IA is an artistic and educational experiment that brings together creativity, learning, and technology. The goal is to stimulate young people’s imagination through collaboration with artificial intelligence, inviting them to reflect on how these tools have both advantages and risks.

This project has been made possible through the collaboration of three entities:
Fundació Èpica La Fura dels Baus, as the driving force behind the project and responsible for the creative and exhibition process.
Computer Vision Center (CVC), in charge of training and applying the AI technology.
Col·legi Badalonès, whose students took part as the main participants in the creative process.

The creative process

The project began with students from Col·legi Badalonès, who drew their own versions of the Dimoni from Badalona’s May Festivities, taking into account SDG nº 13 Climate Action and nº 14 Life Below Water.

From 485 original drawings, the technical team from Fundació Èpica and the CVC trained an artificial intelligence model (Stable Diffusion) so that it could generate new visual proposals inspired by the students’ creativity.

The result was over 1,000 new images, all emerging from this collaboration between humans and machine. Finally, the students themselves participated in a vote to choose the winning Dimoni from among thirteen finalists.

The three awarded projects were:
🥉 “Bighead Emerging from Trash”
🥈 “The Ring with Fish”
🥇 “Dimonia, Where Are You Taking the World?”

The exhibition

The BADAMON.IA exhibition presents the entire project process: from all the drawings created by the students to the visual results generated by artificial intelligence.

Visitors can view the original drawings, the AI-generated images, and try out a demo where they can play with generating their own Dimoni drawings.

📅 Dates: Open until November 20.
🕒 Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
📍 Location: Fundació Èpica La Fura dels Baus Headquarters, Carrer d’Eduard Maristany, 293, Local C, 08912 Badalona, Barcelona.

The exhibition is open to the general public.

Reflection and technological education

As part of the project, the Computer Vision Center will also hold an ExperimentAI session at Col·legi Badalonès, where it will provide a hands-on explanation of artificial intelligence. The aim is to bring this technology closer to young people, encouraging a critical and responsible approach to its use.

BADAMON.IA is not just an exhibition, but a meeting point between art, science, and education—an invitation to imagine how we can live and create alongside the technology of the future.
