Le Quattro Morti di Pier Paolo Pasolini

Representación Le Quattro Morti di Pier Paolo Pasolini

Le Quattro Morti di Pier Paolo Pasolini, by Gian Maria Cervo and artistic direction by Pep Gatell is a project within the framework of the “Affabulazione” initiative, carried out by the City Council of Naples and the Italian Ministry of Culture. The initiative’s main objective is the decentralization of culture towards unconventional spaces, rethinking urban spaces, social inclusion, territorial rebalancing, employment protection and the enhancement of tangible and intangible cultural heritage in peripheral areas of the city.

The project focuses on the figure of Pier Paolo Pasolini, writer, poet and filmmaker whose centenary will be celebrated in 2022, and reflects on his role in national and international culture. The project works on Pasolini’s death based on paintings by contemporary artist Nicola Verlato, a painter considered one of the greatest exponents of lowbrow art, A.I. Art and NFT Art. In his paintings, Verlato transfers Pasolini’s death to historical settings, such as the murder of Christopher Marlowe, or the death of the Graco brothers in the Republican Rome of the II century A.C.

In order to support the project, the artistic and technological team of the Foundation travels to Naples between the months of October and November 2022. The result was presented on November 17: an immersive work based on Cervo’s dramaturgy in which is included through Kalliope a second narrative allowing the public to be part of the experience.
