The Foundation promotes a digital cycle of colloquiums in which the entity’s management team talks with multidisciplinary experts (gastronomy, architecture, technology, among others) to reflect on the anticipatory power of art – Anticipatory Arts – and how creativity allows us to face the challenges of the future. The objective of the activity is to encourage critical thinking and reflection on the role of the creative industries, promoting a change of perception and empowerment of the sector.
The guests, referents from different fields of knowledge, will present their processes and their work, inviting the public to discover and acquire new knowledge.

Épica inaugurates its first series of dialogues on Anticipatory Arts

The cycle began on May 12 and had Andoni Luis Aduriz, one of the most influential chefs of our time, as its first guest Always betting on evolution and interdisciplinarity in the kitchen, he is the founder of Mugaritz, one of the top ten restaurants in the world according to Restaurat magazine. During the conversation, Luis Aduriz reminds us that “The great kitchen is always next to disaster, like great ideas, I am convinced that they are always taking shape next to the precipice.”
The second session took place on May 26. On this occasion we have Dr. Lluís Fuentemilla, psychologist, neuroscientist, professor, researcher and professor at the UB and ICREA Academia. Our guest, who investigates the functioning of memory and how it operates in the brain, has participated in several projects of the Foundation (Information vs Memory, 2018 and Complex Systems, 2019). Epic has served him as the ideal setting to create and anticipate realities in which to carry out his investigations. In this conversation, we relate Anticipatory Arts to neuroscience research and creative processes.
The third session, on June 9, featured Dr. Fernando Vilariño, Associate Director of the CVC, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science at the UAB and coordinator of the ENoLL. His work focuses on the transfer of Computer Vision technology and the approach of science and innovation to citizens through the implementation of a Living Lab model Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Open Innovation, are the areas of knowledge of our guest, which will serve as a starting point to talk about the future, technology and art.
The cycle ended with Ana Alcantud, sociologist and Director of Consulting at Anteverti where she directs strategic projects in Smart Cities, Innovation and Urban Sustainability, topics that will be discussed in this talk. She is also Lead Expert of the European Urbact Program in sustainability and integral urban renewal. Among her latest work, highlights the conceptualization of the Blue Economy for the Olympic Port of Barcelona, the collaboration with the Barcelona Innovation Coast and the direction of the R+D+I Agenda of Argentina for smart and sustainable cities.
