Épica in The Next Renaissance | ZKM
Introduction
Interactive presentation & “La Tempestad en Casa”
This activity will be organized in two parts, the first of which will serve as a conceptual framework for the second.
Part 1. Interactive presentation
The Foundation team will offer a brief presentation on the path and trajectory of La Fura dels Baus, until the creation of the Fundación Épica La Fura dels Baus, an R&D laboratory aimed at promoting horizontal collaboration between humanities, science and technology. The evolution and complexity of the path followed during the first five years of the Foundation will be explained through live and practical neuroscience and brain cognition scientific experiments at ZKM. The audience will experience first-hand some of the processes carried out in the Épica projects that have allowed the participating scientists to extract data for their research, enabling experimentation at the frontiers of art, science and technology. The presentation will be completely interactive, and the public will actively participate using Kalliope, the new transmedia storytelling tool developed by Épica, which will allow a second layer of interaction. Kalliope will also introduce Part 2, “La Tempestad en Casa”, in which the tool will be a main character.
Part 2. “La Tempestad en Casa” based on the scripft of W. Shakespeare
“La Tempestad en casa” is an hybrid event that combines pre-recorded content and live interactive content. The event will include, on the one hand, “La Tempestad en Casa” co-produced with the International Cervantino Festival for its 48th edition. On the other hand, redesigned live content for the event will be integrated through the Kalliope application. During the event, Kalliope will act as a second narrative, capable of interacting live with the entire public, promoting their active participation through their smartphones with the content transmitted, objects and other attendees.
Transmedia storytelling Workshop
How does transmedia storytelling work in live performances? In their workshop, Pep Gatell, president of Fundación Épica and co-founder and artistic director of La Fura dels Baus, and Pedro Lorente, CTO of Fundación Épica, invite you to develop new narrative tools. The practical session is aimed at artists and creatives interested in exploring technologies for live interaction with the public as a second narrative and as a participatory tool through their smartphones. Registration to participate in the workshop is available at this link. The participation in the workshop is free.
