Kalliope Virtual Residence #3

Portada RVK3

The Foundation launches its third Virtual Residency

Through this call, Épica offers, for a determined period, the communication tool developed by the Foundation, Kalliópê, to creative and innovative proposals that want to experiment with the integration of this platform, or those projects that seek new ways and opportunities to access new audiences through new technologies.

Kalliópê is a set of digital tools used for the communication of audiovisual content, whether for large or small audiences. It allows programming interactions with the audience by sending multimedia messages on their mobile devices in a segmented and personalized way.

The residence will have a duration of 6 months and will culminate with a public, virtual, live exhibition or as a physical-digital combination, of the proposed beneficiary of the resident project.

These are some of the selected projects:

El Suceso

Team: Colectivo Anemoia
Premiere Date: December 14, 2024
Location: Épica Foundation, La Fura dels Baus
Performances: 1 showings
Audience: 30 people

Hammada is a hybrid project, starting from research on prophecies to create an artistic piece.

Anemoia is a multidisciplinary team -ranging from anthropology to conservation- characterized by its interest in both artistic and theoretical experimentation. The team is also notable for its fluidity. While it has a core group responsible for preserving the original concept, it remains open to new members eager to join the research.

Libro 1: Laberinto

Team: Lourdes Pérez Cesari and Aiko Yayoi
Premiere date: January 11
Location: Bosque de Aragón in Mexico City
Performances: 3
Audience: 30 people

This research-creation project arises from the need to build a transmedia universe where nature takes center stage. We aim to connect the feminine experience with nature and its meanings within folklore, recognizing the importance of preserving local flora and fauna as essential elements for sustaining human life, but also as carriers of ancestral knowledge. The first book, titled LABYRINTH, will be an immersive experience in the forest (aimed at women), where, guided by the materials available on the Kalliope app and a performer’s guidance, participants will embark on a collective journey to reconnect with the self.

The experience

Team: Javier Mateos

“The Experience” is a participatory and immersive event where attendees, equipped with their mobile phones and headphones, take part in a fun and surreal game. They receive audio messages and instructions through Kalliope.

Javier Mateos has over 15 years of experience in Film and TV, working as a producer, screenwriter, and director throughout his career. He has contributed to the production of around 20 feature films and renowned entertainment shows such as “The Voice” and “The Masked Singer.”
