The Épica La Fura dels Baus Foundation opens its doors in the Port of Badalona, making available to society a knowledge center based on horizontal collaboration between science, art and technology: “connections on the boudaries”. The new facilities will host national and international projects in residence, offering multidisciplinary professionals an environment for experimentation endowed with innovative technologies, disruptive methodologies and new languages.
The Foundation, through its activities, will continue working to promote the recognition of artistic research as a fundamental practice, at the same level as science and technology, to face the challenges and systemic changes of the future and generate new knowledge with and for society.
In addition, during 2023 and 2024, Épica will organize the activities and residences of the new S+T+ARTS regional center, co-financed by the European Commission, together with leading Catalan partners such as the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and RCR Arquitectes, or international partners such as the High Performance Computing Center of Stuttgart and SONY Europe, among others.
The Fundación Épica La Fura dels Baus is the result of conceptual work that dates back to 2010, when La Fura dels Baus reflected on the need to fix the knowledge developed over 30 years, to regenerate, reinvent itself and catch new formulas and formats to the creation. In short, the will to establish a legacy for and with society.
Until now, the Foundation has organized more than 25 multidisciplinary projects in which more than 800 creatives, more than 100 experts and researchers have participated, reaching an audience of 15,000 people at physical events and generating a digital impact of more than 100,000 views. An experience that has allowed this Creation Center of the Generalitat de Catalunya to position itself as a pioneering research center in the field of science, art and technology.
