The documentary "Èpica. El llegat de La Fura dels Baus", produced by La Fura and Badalona Comunicació, has been selected to participate in the third edition of Film Maudit 2.0, an alternative film festival that will take place between January 12th and 23rd in Los Angeles, California.

The event, which this year presents an onsite and online edition, will showcase more than 100 works from 23 countries that deal with socio-political themes and issues considered taboo in commercial circuits. It will take place at the Highways Performance Space, a space with more than 30 years of history recognized for hosting independent shows and activities.

The directors of the documentary, journalist David González and filmmaker Joan Clusella, both from Badalona Comunicació, have also been invited to participate in a 'Questions and answers' (Q&A) that can be followed through the festival's website.

"Èpica. El llegat de La Fura dels Baus" is a documentary that takes the viewer into the creation process of workshop ‘Information vs Memory‘, through which he analyzes the work of the Épica Foundation La Fura dels Baus and the role of art and science in the face of the new challenges of the information era.

Scientists, artists, researchers, chefs, philosophers and the residents of the Manresà neighborhood of Badalona, where the headquarters of the Epica Foundation is located, participate in this workshop that not only serves to create a multidisciplinary show, but also to test new hypotheses and technologies.

During the 60 minutes of the documentary, the viewer experiences, practically in first person, how is the creative process of La Fura dels Baus and knows the work that is done in different research centers. Privacy,  fake news, collaborative technology, knowledge transfer, preconceived ideas about gender or the functioning of the brain are some of the themes that appear in the performance and on which professionals from different fields reflect on this film.

Current issues that raise urgent ethical questions in the face of the social and cultural changes that will come hand in hand with scientific and technological advances. And art, here, is presented as a potential conductor of this knowledge thanks to a direct and impacting language, but, above all, to its potential to turn the spectator into a participant.

"Èpica. El llegat de La Fura dels Baus" is one of the films selected to be shown online through the festival's website worldwide, in what will be its international premiere.
